Covid Negative

 Covid test this morning at 3am was negative, so I'm free! Free until December 26th when I'll have to take another test and report the results via QR code. Pishcha picked me up from the hotel ~1pm and we got some groceries and returned to her house, washed some clothes, finalized hotels for the next few days, and ate dinner.

Tomorrow morning (Monday, December 20th) we'll depart by car for Khao Yai National Park, around three hours to the northeast of Bangkok (actually, Pishcha's house is in a Bangkok suburb, Samut Prakan). Thailand has a growing wine growing industry and the park has one vinyard nearby which we'll stop, tour, eat lunch, and stay two nights camping at the park where we hope to do some hiking, too.

Over night, due to jetlag, birds chirping, dogs barking, and chickens cock-a-doodle-doing, I slept just three hours, so I'm a little tired now.

Beautiful evening to watch the sunset after snorkeling. Final evening on the island. I did not expect to see a scorpion in the middle of the road in the jungle. Pishcha was not surprised and said they're common in Thailand. Hiking Up the Mountain

Over the most recent holiday weekend ( October 23rd is Chulalongkorn Day ) it was great to get out of the city and visit the province of Ratchaburi, just west of Bangkok and bordering Myanmar. There are quite a few hiking trails in the area and we chose Khao Laem Suan Phueng, apparently a well-known trail and frequented by trail-runners, day-hikers (like us), and I guess anyone else who's interested in getting outside! Since I enjoy data I tracked the hike on my Garmin watch, which provided location data (in addition to heart-rate, timing, steps, etc). I was able to pull that out (with help from Garmin , this YouTuber , and this data science guy ). I also wrote a little script to extract and transform the data in C# using Visual Studio, posting it to GitHub.
